Research interests:

Zach’s previous work was in protein structure and function with an emphasis in cancer biology. His current research interests focus on clinically relevant problems in molecular biology, cancer biology and immunology. His ultimate goal is to use his research to develop novel therapies for cancer management.

Personal bio:

Zach was born in Virginia, but grew up in the Charlotte, N.C. area. He completed his B.S. in Chemistry at Winthrop University with research focusing on proteins involved in cancer progression. He also spent two summers volunteering and conducting structural biology research at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. It was there that he fully realized his love for medical research and was excited to join the M.D./Ph.D. program at VCU in 2012. In his spare time, Zach enjoys outings with his friends and family, playing with his pets and researching the history of the Richmond region.
